Yamato Transport USA is seeking a ground-breaking Innovation and Business Development Leader for its Digital Forwarding operations. Its parent company, Yamato Holdings, is the #1 logistics company in Japan.

The Innovation Development is part of a Corporate Planning team and is responsible for generating, managing, and executing many of Yamato’s most advanced and high impact business development and innovation projects for Digital Forwarding operations. This includes securing and managing business relationships, negotiating innovative business development deals and partnering with cross-divisional talent efficiently. Nurturing beneficial relationships with advanced technology companies as well as unique start-ups to identify innovative business development opportunities is already proceeding at a rapid pace.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in logistics and/or technology business development.
• End-to-end negotiation experience, including identifying and executing successful POCs, service developments, strategic business and/or technology relationships.
• English and Japanese language proficiency in spoken word and business document writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent oral and written skills to persuasively communicate complex issues simply within the Yamato group and externally,
• Ability to build and maintain a network of relationships which facilitate deal flow.
• Passion for big challenges and must have a good sense of humor.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Take the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate and manage innovation and business developments that involve components of technology, customer service, supply chain solutions, and logistics operations.
• Evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of prospected developments.
• Leverage cross-functional teams including Business Development, Operations, IT, Legal, Finance, Accounting and senior management to secure business relationships.
• Develop best practices to quickly manage and track opportunities.
• Support the strategic objectives and interest of Yamato’s business team on a global basis.
